In Poughkeepsie, family-run Italian places are busiest on weekend evenings and around holidays, when reservations or call-ahead seating are worth it. Wing-and-pizza shops across New York do most of their business by delivery and price wings by the piece or in fixed counts, with sauce heat adjustable on request. Catering trays, party pizzas and sheet pies need a day's notice at most places, and more around big game days.

Poughkeepsie is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Poughkeepsie is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

We had such a wonderful experience here yesterday, and a big part of that was because of our waiter, Rich! He was incredibly attentive, personable, and friendly throughout our entire meal. He even took the time to give us great suggestions from the menu, which we really appreciated. We brought our family with us, and they were extremely impressed, not only with the quality of the food, but also with the exceptional service. Everyone had such a great experience that they all said they would definitely come back again. Rich truly made our visit even more enjoyable, and we really appreciate the wonderful service. We’ll absolutely be back!

Food quality / price (value) rating 9. The atmosphere is contemporary modern. The menu is Italian / pub fusion with modern twists on tavern favorites. The venue itself is art deco style, kept immaculately clean (including the restrooms). I had the Grilled Chicken sandwich with avocado and aioli sauce, with Tuscan fries (house cut I'm told) both of which were very good. The wife had the Honey Chicken Ginger Salad and we both agreed that it was excellent. Our server, Jenny, deftly handled the full bar, the bar dining area, and the drink orders for the entire restaurant. There was a dessert special of Italian Lemon Cake offerred, but unfortunately, I couldn't convince my wife to split it. The prices were very reasonable, and the food was very good. We'll definitely come back.

After a not so pleasant dinner at Culinary Institute of America's Caterina de Medici, decided to give Cosimos a try. Very pleasantly surprised. Restaurant is beautiful with plenty of seating. Casinos were a delicious appetizer and Rigatoni alla Butera as a meal was just the dinner I needed. Sorry, took a star out for service as we were never offered grated cheese or crushed red pepper for our pasta dishes. I was surprised after my meal that it was offered to the diners next to us. Decided to splurge on dessert. If you are a chocolate/ice cream lover Tartufo is for you! We are out of towners and my husband is talking about going back just for Cosimo's. Sorry I can only share a photo of the Rigatoni alla Butera as I practically dove into the Tartufo when it arrived at the table

This was our first time here and the food was excellent. We had soup, appetizers and full meals, and there was more than enough food for us to each have lunch and dinner tonight. Gavin was our waiter and he was very pleasant and responsive. All the food was cooked to perfection and delicious. The serving of calamari was huge. The hamburger was cooked exactly correctly and the fries had a lovely flavor with the rosemary. My chicken was easily cut with my fork and the sauce was really lovely. While a little pricey it was absolutely worth it.

Food was delicious and quick. Service was attentive and friendly. Only issue was we were seated by the door to the outside tables. Everytime a server went through a gust of wind blew and sent napkins and menus flying. So don't sit there unless you got things nailed down lol.
